I have enjoyed every book in the Spy Maker's Guild series, and Daring Honor was no different. The ending of Reckless Grace left me anticipating the release of Daring Honor and without a doubt, it was worth the wait. Each book delivers its own romance, allowing the stories to work as stand-alone reads.
Daring Honor tells the story of Tony Parrish, one of the few men adopted into the female dominated Spy Makers Guild. Tony faked his death and took on a new identity to escape his adoptive family's wrath, as they saw his actions before their last mission as a betrayal. Faking his death was a better option as opposed to having his memory of the incident erased. This was the Guild's way of protecting their forty-year-old secret.
Daring Honor picks up months after the events of Reckless Grace. Tony is on the run, but is having fun in the meantime. His first stop, Puerto Rico, where he went kite boarding. While kite boarding, he experienced difficulties, and was rescued by Honor Silva. Meanwhile, his adoptive family discovered he faked his death and went searching for him. Despite his attraction to Honor, Tony knew he couldn't stay, knowing his family would find him at any cost. However, when he learns of the danger Honor faces, he couldn't walk away. His need to help Honor outweighed the risk of having parts of his memory wiped.
The moment I began reading, I knew this would be an exciting read, and it did not disappoint. The story pulled me in and had me quickly tuning the pages. I enjoyed watching Tony and Honor's relationship develop. Theirs was a case of finding love at the most inopportune time. Here we have two people with secrets and whose circumstances added a layer of intrigue to the story. Their spending time together led to the revelation of some of their secrets, with Honor revealing more than Tony. I admired Tony's honesty in letting Honor know that revealing all his secrets would place her in danger..
The romance between the protagonists was both steamy and sweet. I enjoyed their interactions and the way there so protective of each other made my heart soar. They shared an undeniable chemistry, and it was a joy seeing them together.
The suspense held me captive and had me on the edge of my seat. Now, not only did the story deliver suspense surrounding Tony, there was also an element relating to Honor and her family. Honor showed strength and resilience during the moments of danger. She had skills the Guild would find useful.
As stated earlier, I loved all the books I have read from the series (I still need to read book one) and so far Daring Honor is my favourite. It was thrilling from start to finish, with mystery, danger and romance lining the pages.
