I enjoy a good second-chance romance, but Claire Contreras left me begging for the next book with this one.

Rowan and Tessa were best friends who had just begun to explore more when Rowan broke things off and left for college.  Determined to not end up like his parents, he'd decided marriage and love were not in the equation for him.  At the same time, Tessa didn't think love and marriage were in her cards because she was so focused on her career.  But when Tessa finds her way back to her hometown for a brief visit, life as Rowan and Tessa know it changes.

These two fight their attraction and feelings for each other...a lot!  They're so determined to stay the course they set in their lives that they can't see that yes, they do love each other and yes, they're in a relationship.  Both of them are infuriatingly stubborn in not altering their courses that they miss what's right in front of them.  As a reading, as frustrating as it was, the author did a fabulous job of weaving this story with the characters' innermost thoughts and dreams that we knew what each of them was giving up, even if their partner didn't.

I'm on the edge of my seat to read the next installment.  This couple needs to figure it out and get their HEA.
