Immortal Hulk has got to be one of the more intense series I’m reading right now, which is saying something. While I haven’t fallen utterly in love with every issue, I can safely say that I enjoyed every single one of them.
And I can’t say this enough; I love that they’re taking risks with Hulk/Banner’s character(s). The fact that they managed to do something with Banner’s death in Civil War II is really impressive, and more to the point; I adore that they didn’t just brush it off and pretend it didn’t happen (a sadly common occurrence in the comic world).
It was fun seeing the Avengers once again fighting the Hulk. I swear that never gets old – especially as they swap out members of the Avengers every time.
The final pages for this issue were probably some of the most intense bits so far…I’m not even sure there’s a way to talk about them without utterly ruining the revelation of it all. The setup for it was perfect; I’ll just leave it at that.
