Nobody's Damsel starts a few months after Chloe and Jason got married. He's getting ready to start a new film project, while she's beginning her career as forensic scientist. However, things are not going as well as they appear. Naturally, Chloe and Jason are the subjects of many false tabloid stories, but maybe there's a hint of truth to them? The biggest story seems to be that they're on the brink of divorce already because he's cheating with a former co-star while she throws herself into work. No matter how hard they try to be normal and trust each other, these rumors have found a way into their relationship. It also doesn't help that both of their jobs are stressing them out, and the other can't really understand how they're feeling.

I loved how Nobody's Damsel took on a more crime mystery focus. Chloe's first day on the job and she's already analyzing evidence of a murder and kidnapping that took place that very day. This case hits extremely close to home for Chloe, and she's determined to find this little girl and bring in her kidnapper. Unfortunately, there's a serious lack of clues and witnesses which is hurting morale. It's very Chick Lit meets CSI. Well, I've never actually seen CSI, but that's how I'd image it to be. I was extremely invested in this plot and wanted the case solved almost as much as Chloe did!

As for the plot focusing on Chloe and Jason's new marriage...I wasn't quite as interested. In fact, Jason isn't around all that much, but such is the life of a movie star. My main problem with this plot was Chloe. She infuriated me! During every conversation she had with Jason I just wanted to shake her and tell her to shut up! She confronts him about the rumors regarding his ex co-star and close friend, Vicki, and Jason is very open and honest with her about their past and what's happening in their present. He also makes it extremely clear that he has no intention of pursuing her and while he is attracted to Vicki, he has no romantic interest in her. However, this is not what Chloe wants to hear (she says this multiple times, actually). I don't get it. He's being honest, but she'd rather him lie to her? She also demands that he choose her over Vicki. It's not even a situation where Jason has to make a choice! He's married to Chloe, he works with Vicki. There is no choosing to be done! Chloe just drove me crazy about this whole situation. It was almost to the point where I wanted Jason to leave her!

Luckily, in true Chick Lit fashion, Nobody's Damsel has a happy ending for everybody, so yay! The crime plot didn't end how I expected, and I liked that. There was something super cheesy that took the happy ending to a whole other level which I could have done without though. While the murder mystery was quite heavy, this still ended up as a pretty feel good read. I wonder what life has in store for Chloe and Jason next?
