I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review. The Holly Dates by Brittainy Cherry landed on my kindle when I needed it most. I didn’t know how much I needed it until I read it. It’s an entertaining and sweet love story which while touching on serious issues will have you smiling from start to finish. It will immerse you in a stream of warm and fuzzy feelings and put you in the holiday mood.

The Holly Dates was everything I hoped it would be. Brittainy Cherry has yet to disappoint. I have loved every book of hers that I read and The Holly Dates was no different. In her latest novel, Cherry gave her readers a romance featuring romance novelist Holly Jackson and restaurant owner Kai Kane. Both characters have been hurt by love in the past. However, while Holly hopes to one day get lucky in the romance department, Kai wants nothing to do with love.

I just love when characters fall in love with the person whom they disliked. This was the situation for Holly and Kai. Holly, who always has her nose buried in a book, accidentally bumped into Kai, shattering the case of liquor he was delivering to his restaurant. The same restaurant Holly visited every night for her different first dates. Wanting her out of his restaurant, he offered to help her find the perfect suitor whom would take her from first date to several dates. All was going well until Kai developed feelings for Holly.

Holly and Kai were both wonderful, and it was a joy getting to know them both. Their sarcastic and flirty banter will crack you up. I loved their personalities and thought they fit really well together. Holly may have had her heart broken, but it never dimmed her bubbly personality. She was more of the glass is half full type of gal.

Kai, on the other hand, was the opposite. He’s on the quieter and grumpy side, but that didn’t stop me from liking him, especially after learning the reason he wanted nothing to do with falling he love–he just needed the right woman to break down the wall he built around his heart.

The Holly Dates delivered a slow-burn romance which elicited warm and cozy feelings. Holly and Kai went through stages of overcoming misunderstandings, becoming friends and then lovers. Holly dating someone else didn’t faze me, as it helped to pull her and Kai closer.

Although a romcom, the story was emotionally charged, which if you are familiar with the author’s work will come as no surprise.

The Holly Dates proved to be the perfect treat to prepare one for the holidays. If you need a cute Christmas read to put you in the mood for the holidays, then look no further. The Holly Dates would be the perfect read for meeting that need. This review was originally posted on Totally Addicted to Reading
