Mr. Knightsbridge by Louise Bay

Mr. Knightsbridge (Mister, #2)

by Louise Bay

I’m not a good boyfriend. But I am the most successful jeweler of my generation, a loyal friend and some say the most eligible bachelor in London.

I’ve learned from my past that a beautiful woman will never outshine the precious gems I deal in. Work is both my wife and my mistress.

That all changes when I spot Hollie Lumen. With her hand-me-down dress, dazzling smile and green eyes more striking than any emerald I’ve ever seen, she brings my world to a screeching halt. For the first time in my life, I want to impress a woman. Feisty, funny and ferociously independent, turns out she’s unimpressible.

Then I find out Hollie’s about to fly back home to Oregon because her boss just fired her.

She’s American. I’m British.

She lives in a trailer. I sleep in a penthouse.

She sells on Etsy. My first store was on Fifth Avenue.

She can’t bear secrets. I’m running from what I can’t hide.

They say opposites attract. Hollie and I combust.

I’m going to use all my powers of persuasion to convince her to stay.

Mr. Knightsbridge is a stand-alone romance in the Mister Series.

When a tragedy changes your life…

Louise Bay puts a sexy Pom in the (hero) hot seat, and you end up with the best romance stories around. I absolutely LOVED Mr Knightsbridge and wore a big goofy grin from start to finish. The hero was amazing, and I loved seeing his emotional growth throughout the story. The heroine was strong, dependable and determined to be more than what she was born into. There was a little bit of a fairytale feel, but that made it even better. I wanted Dexter to sweep Hollie off her feet and make all her dreams come true… because making her happy will give him the dream life that he never knew he wanted.

When someone says that a tragedy, like the death of a loved one, changed their life, you mostly think about the emotional impact of the loss. In Mr Knightsbridge, it wasn’t just the emotional impact, it was the events surrounding it as well that changed Dexter’s life. I don’t think Dexter realised how his perceptions changed when he lost his parents. It took a lot of years to see that what he remembered was different from what happened. Betrayals, or seeming betrayals, felt like gunshots to the heart. What he thought was true love at 19 years of age was just immature like-a-lot. Only those he trusted… the ones who followed his orders and told him what he wanted to hear, could get him through the dark times. It seemed that looking past the betrayals, lost love's, and mistakenly being wrapped in cotton wool, could only happen after he meets a woman who loves making jewellery as much as he does.

Hollie has come to London to change her life and follow her dreams. She’s sick of living in a trailer in her small town, working to pay her bills, her parents bills, and her sister's bills. Hollie does it because she thinks it’s her responsibility to take care of her family. Her dreams had been put on hold while she helped pay for her little sister’s college education. She wants for Autumn what she didn't have a chance to have, an education and a chance for better. Now that Autumn has nearly finished college, it’s time for Hollie to live her dream… leaving Oregon and designing and making jewellery.

I absolutely loved Dexter and Hollie’s relationship and how they fell in love. I knew they were right together because they weren’t afraid to be honest with each other. Honesty can be hard, but it is the only way to have a successful relationship, in my opinion. Yes, forthrightness can hurt but if you can’t be or share who you really are, there really is no hope. Being candid with someone can also help them to realise that anger and resentment can hold them back from seeing the truth. Sometimes being frank with someone your care about can help them realise that you can’t help someone if they can’t help themselves. Sincerity, truthfulness, and honesty helped make Dexter and Hollie’s relationship work.

The Mister Series is becoming one of my favourite series by Louise Bay. The characters are engaging, the love story makes my heart flutter, and the sexy times are HOT! I can’t wait for the other Misters to find true love.
