Fair and Tender Ladies

Of the Lee Smith I've read, this is my favorite. I like it because it's about my region, and getting a taste of rural feelings in the period she writes about it eyeopening and touching. I think the story of settled families over several generations is also interesting, because my family is this way. It can be a difficult read in terms of content, but worth it.
