Born in Fire (Fire and Ice Trilogy, #1) (Demon Days, Vampire Nights World, #1)

by K.F. Breene

Heart pounding and laugh out loud funny, U.S.A. Today Bestselling author K.F. Breene will take you on a magical joy ride you won't soon forget.

Supernatural Bounty Hunter isn't the sort of thing you see on LinkedIn. But with a rare type of magic like mine, I don't have many options.

So dangerous or not, the job is mine. And it was going fine, until an old as sin vampire stole my mark, and with it, my pay day.

Knowing I'm poor and desperate, he has offered me a job. I'll have to work by his side to help solve a top secret case.

Everyone knows not to trust vampires. Especially a hot elder vampire. But without any other jobs coming up, I'm stuck. As I uncover a web of lies and treachery, revealing an enemy I didn't know existed, the truth of my identity is threatened. I might make it out alive, only to end up in a gilded cage.

UUGH... So, I love Breene as an Author, and the premise of this book sounded amazing. And, honestly, I really liked it, everything in it was exactly what I want. The FMC is smart, strong, she makes sound decisions and her powers are interesting. The world building is fascinating, interesting and new enough to be intruiging. There is definite tension between the FMC and her love (?) interest, but it's not going too fast or insta-love kind of thing. All things I love and look forward to in a book. But for some reason, it is not drawing me in like other books do, I am not glued to the page and sucked into the story and I do not know why. I still really enjoyed the book, I will read the next one for sure and I would recommend it to anyone who is interested in Urban Fantasy/Paranormal Romance (although the romance is very nice and slow in this one, so no happy ending yet).
