Worth spending the money on if reading an overview of the GRE will help you feel prepared. The book briefly addresses the three different sections of the GRE and gives tips and a few practice problems. Most of the Kaplan strategies are probably things you do without thinking about it or putting a name to it, but, again, just reading over them might instill some confidence in you.

The four included practice tests (one in book, three computer) could be the book's most valuable tool, to familiarize yourself with question types, test format, and time limits and to get a general idea of how you are scoring. Since I have not yet taken the GRE, however, I cannot comment on how similar these practice tests are to the version you will see on test day.

Bottom line: I feel more comfortable having read this book, but I can get many of the same resources and strategies online, often free. I just personally work better with physical books, so I invested in this.
