Far Sector #1 is N.K. Jemisin's first foray into the comic book world. And I've got to say, her writing fits in well with the graphic arts. She's got Jamal Campbell as an artist too, so that certainly doesn't hurt things.

This is part of DC's Young Animal Line, and Jemisin made full use of their access to Green Lanterns. And yet - this was a tale like no other. This is a whole new world and Green Lantern type than I've ever seen before. And I've got to admit, I can't wait to see more of this world (and it's three races/complicated politics) and the GL assigned to care for it.

As for the writing style in this issue? It's wonderfully written. I was immediately pulled into the action, though Jemisin did take the time to go back and actually explain things later. There are still many questions left to answer, and thus the next issue will prove to be interesting.
