I will admit that while I really enjoy Marvel I probably do not keep up with the story lines like I should, so the fact that there was a whole storyline where the Avengers are devastated by one of their own kind of caught my attention while I looking through a hug box of comics I purchased not too long ago.

House of M takes the events of Avengers Disassembled and really turns it on it’s head. Scarlet Witch has killed some of her teammates in a mental break down and Magneto seeks to protect her from the possible judgment of both the X-Men and the Avengers. However when the teams are set to decide her fate they find themselves in a very different reality and only Wolverine is capable of remember what is actually occurring to them.

I think the most interesting thing about this particular story arc is that you get to see the heroes (and villains) doing things that you might now have thought of before. They have different lives and most of them are truly happy. However when it comes down to it I thought it was more interesting to see how the heroes respond to finding out the truth of their new lives. There is a lot emotion and hurt involved, and it’s nice to see some of the characters in a different element. We also get to see Magneto taking the role of a father to Wanda and Peitro, and not just in the role of pro-mutant radical. I will admit he’s still not all that parental, but it’s nice seeing that side of him however briefly.

I like that when this book ends I feel like each of the characters will be carrying something away from it, and that it will stick with them for a while…especially a specific few. I’m also curious to see how they deal with Scarlet Witch’s last little gift. I’m not entirely sure what I’m supposed to read after this one and where exactly in the New Avengers this particular arc fits, so if someone else knows then please let me know.
