This book was really strange. Edwin was odd and relatively unlikeable. There were a few humorous one liners but mostly it fell flat. His attitude towards women was just plain weird and most of his character was just contradictory. He clearly likes young women - most men do. But he constantly tries to deny that by saying how wrong it is and how he's so much older than Rachel so he doesn't think of her like that. Yes well checking her out - it kind of says you do. Hell the first time he met her he agreed to go back to her place and get drunk. The romance between him and Sera with an 'e' was kind of disturbing. For all he says he's not a stalker - he's a freaking stalker. He turns up when he's not wanted constantly.
And he's an idiot. It basically should have been a book about Rachel solving the crime. Edwin is not remotely qualified and he's not remotely interested in crime solving which means it makes absolutely no sense as to why he would be given this case by his boss. Also - he must be a jerk if every person he meets feels the need to ignore his name.
I got the second book for free so I'll eventually read it but I probably won't bother with the rest of the series.
