Bad Things shows just how bad things can come when love can't conquer all. Gripping story with characters who broke my heart.
The whole Tristan & Danika series is set in the same universe as Lilley's Up in the Air series. And I was intrigued by Tristan and Danika's story from when they first showed up there. Bad Things starts withe Danika and Tristan's meeting, their incredible chemistry, and how Danika did her best to resist his bad-boy charm.
At first, their story was all about falling in love, but as Bad Things unfolded, nothing was easy for them. Danika needed stability, and Tristan was anything but stable. He loved Danika with all his heart, but when things became difficult for him, he turned towards the wrong solution.
On top of being in a bad place at times, Tristan's being in a band complicated things between him and Danika. Especially because one of his band mates, who is a creepy bastard, thinks Tristan will give his all to the band if there is no more Danika to distract him from his music.
Rock Bottom totally broke my heart! It's only so much a person can take before there aren't any more pieces to try to put them back together again and be whole.
This story is where Tristan & Danika's romance went to hell in a hand basket! And my goodness, how I cried! The reasons why things happened the way they did made so much sense to me. All the while understanding Danika, and rooting for her to be strong, I still couldn't help but hope that they would get back together.
There was so much heartache in Rock Bottom, both for Tristan and for Danika. I felt like my emotions had been through a shredder, and my heart was in pieces.
Lovely Trigger dealt with the past, the present and the future - and it did so beautifully!
This book broke me in thousands of pieces! Finally, we found out why Danika had left Tristan. And it was ugly. It was bad. It was sad. It was heartbreaking. And he had NO idea! When Danika told him, he was broken, too.
Tristan and Danika was an amazing series, and I loved the character development, the writing, the love, the hurt and everything in between. There were several characters from the Up in the Air series, too, and that enhanced my experience, as I almost felt like I got to know them better in this series.
I hope Lilley will continue with more books from this universe.
