This does not affect our opinion of the book or the content of our review.Given how Rebel Heir ended, I had a feeling Rush was not going to handle the truth about Gia's baby very well. And he didn't. But I was vested in this couple's story because I wanted to see how they got past Rush's father and brother and what it meant for the family he was trying to build with Gia.
Rush doesn't handle things well, but for good reason. He has a lot of demons tied up with his brother and father, so discovering the connection between his brother and Gia threw him for a loop. He had a hard time working through those feelings and often didn't treat Gia the way he should, but there was never a doubt in my mind about his feeling for her. He loved her...he just needed to figure out how to get through his emotional BS before he could finally get his act together.
I applaud Gia to sticking to her guns. She very easily could have stayed at Rush's house until he figured his issues out. Instead, she kept her pride and was determined she was going to do what was best for her and her baby...either with or without him. That was a big step for her and one I couldn't see her making in the first book. I guess pending motherhood brings it out in you.
A good read and a HEA that tied this duet up perfectly. Not my favorite from this writing duo, but a solid read for any fan.
