I've probably said this before but cowboys are my guilty reading pleasure. I'm thrilled that the author gives the heroine of this series, Deputy Laney Briggs some hot guys to choose from.

Laney Briggs is the sassy mouthed, kick-ass and beautiful deputy in the small town of Pistol Rock. A town, where gossip travels faster than the wind, where there is always something happening. Life is good for Laney – she's soon to be married to Nathan the handsome local vet who's steady and dependable. He doesn't exactly set her soul on fire, but he's safe and reliable and that is mostly comforting. Everything is swimmingly fine until a long gone cowboy who broke Laney's heart breezes back into town and into her life.

Gunner Wilson, a Texas Ranger is back in Pistol Rock and he's going to be exactly where he wants to be – near to the woman he's always loved, but somehow messed things up. However, there is a slight problem in that HIS woman is soon to marry the dullest guy in the whole of Western Texas and he wants her back. Nothing is straight-forward as he has a rival in his pursuit - Luke Wagner has his sights on Laney too.

When Gunner and Laney are together their chemistry is combustible. Their shared history recalls painful memories. Besides, Laney doesn't want to shake-up the life she has, to take-up with the sexy cowboy who left her. Neither does her fiancé want anyone taking his woman from him – not even for a bribe. With dead bodies turning up, crimes to solve Laney tries to distract herself with work. However, these cowboys are on her heels constantly...

Jodi Linton does a fantastic job not only creating protagonists that are multi-faceted but giving us an interesting and entertaining ensemble of supporting characters. For the most part this is a laugh-out loud, highly amusing read, but when necessary the author managed to get serious subject matter across in a sympathetic way. Highly recommend and can't wait for the next installment.
