- The two tidbits of information about the way of medicine and the military were like back in the day at the fr0nt of the book.
- Seeing how life was back then in the early 1800s.
- The medicine man, Howakan, and the doctor, Dr. Deggory Periwinkle, being great friends
- How this virus brought together the Native Americans and the White People together to fight against one thing.
Dislikes
- The way that the virus was infecting the other people who it came into contact with.
- What the virus does in the host body that it's in before leaving it when that body dies.
- In a way that its similar to what we are going through right now minus the whole turning into people who like to eat raw flesh and meat, along with just acting like animals.
- The way that the book was hastily edited took me out of the story at times when I came across it in the book.
- That Dr. Periwinkle, a friend of Howakan, didn't realize this virus came from his experiments on rodents until later than I thought it should have.
- The ending wasn't clear enough for me as it didn't, I think, end things in a great way.
- These are questions that are still flowing through my mind: Whatever happened to Mato Hato? What happened to Detroit and Chicago while the soldiers were gone? How far away did this virus go, and how many towns did it take over?

The Secret War of 1834 by B.B. LeClere is a story that happens under terrible circumstances getting away and creating something horrible for our population back then. Mr. LeClere did some considerable research, and I liked the little tidbits at the beginning. I am sadly giving the rating of 3 stars and only recommend this novel to people that like this sort of book, historical fiction, and zombies.
