Before reading this issue I finally (finally) looked up the Inheritors and their backstory. I kind of wish I had done that sooner, because knowing their past certainly upped their threat level. At least I had a better idea of what I was in for with this series…and I probably learned that just in the nick of time.
Also there are two other Spider-comics that came out on the same day, Spider-Girls #1 and Spider-Gwen; Ghost Spider #1. As long as you read Spider-Geddon #2 first, the rest of the order doesn’t matter so much, though I personally read Spider-Gwen first (I couldn’t wait!).
They did a decent job of establishing the threat level of the Inheritors in this issue. I probably didn’t need to have read the backstory to get how dangerous they were; not after some of the things they did here. Oh well, at least I was prepared. Though truth be told, I’m not anticipating any of the ‘main universe’ characters to end up dead (or if they do die, I don’t expect them to stay dead) so I guess that kind of cuts down on the level of anxiety I’m feeling here…
