I loved a good portion of this book - the plot about avenging her ancestor was a lot of fun! And the modern day murder plot was interesting with some good twists and ties to the past. Still, I was turned off by a lot of flat dialogue. There were more than a couple of instances when I had no idea what kind of emotion the authors were trying to convey until scenes were over. An argument between Dae and Kevin was only apparent to me after one of them walked away in a huff, and arguments between Dae and her grandfather felt stilted and un-emotional. These scenes in the book pulled me out of the story, dampening the experience for me. Still, I'd recommend this series to other readers who enjoy the paranormal with their murder mysteries - there's a lot to enjoy in this series.
