The Good Luck Girls by Charlotte Nicole Davis

The Good Luck Girls (Good Luck Girls, #1)

by Charlotte Nicole Davis

The country of Arketta calls them Good Luck Girls - they know their luck is anything but.

Sold to a "welcome house" as children and branded with cursed markings.

Trapped in a life they would never have chosen.

When Clementine accidentally kills a man, the girls risk a dangerous escape and harrowing journey to find freedom, justice, and revenge in a country that wants them to have none of those things. Pursued by Arketta's most vicious and powerful forces, both human and inhuman, their only hope lies in a bedtime story passed from one Good Luck Girl to another, a story that only the youngest or most desperate would ever believe.

It's going to take more than luck for them all to survive.

Not too sure about this one but I gave it 3 stars anyway because I thought it had potential. I connected with the characters well enough, I just think it's a matter of me diving into the world a little further.

However, the fact of having five girls at the centre of the story could have been one of the things that distracted me immensely from the story itself. It can be quite difficult to remember minuscule details about 5 people. Remembering minuscule details is something I take pleasure in as a reader.

Still, I loved the premise and I loved the groundwork the author laid at the beginning of the story. It never seemed like a word was wasted. I do look forward to reading more from this author soon.
