Book Summary:

Evie MacColl leads a unique life. After spending six months in a pocket dimension (yes, really), she’s back home—trying to pick up the pieces. With her father recently deceased, Evie has two choices: let everything he’s built crumble away or try to carry on where he left off.

Okay, those aren’t her only choices. She also has the choice to dive back into the pocket dimension, sticking her nose into a mystery larger than she could ever have dreamed of. Who could resist that temptation?

My Review:

If you’re looking for an imaginative world to dive into, look no further! Magic Flask provides two worlds for the price of one. One may feel very familiar to our own, while the other is…something else entirely.

Speaking of something else, Evie MacCool is quite the lead character. She’s simultaneously compelling and offputting in a way that makes it clear she’s doing it purposefully. I immediately fell in love with her confidence.

I loved every minute of this novel, especially the parts about the pocket dimension. I honestly think I could have read a dozen more chapters on that alone, but I’m greedy like that.

Fennel Steuert’s writing is perfection here, providing a memorable story that is unlike anything else.
