Book Summary:
Detective Chelsey Calhoun is good at what she does - she helps people find the answers that tear their lives apart. There are only two that haunt her to this day. The first is the disappearance of her sister nearly twenty years ago.
Then there’s the case of Ellie Black, the girl who went missing years ago. Her sudden reappearance in the woods is about to kick off everything, sending Chelsey and Ellie on a whirlwind chase that neither anticipated.
My Review:
As with any good thriller, there’s a lot to unpack in The Return of Ellie Black. For one thing, it’s more like two mysteries/thrillers wrapped into one. Throw in the twists, emotional ties, and heartbreaking revelations, and…you’ve got something entirely new.
The Return of Ellie Black is very much an atmospheric thriller. It unravels through two perspectives - Ellie’s and Detective Calhoun’s. Both provide very different but essential points to everything that follows.
I’m not going to lie—I did not expect the twists in this book. They had me floored. When I say that doesn’t happen often, I mean it. So please take that under advisement (in a good way, I swear).
