I wanted to like this book more than I did, though it did grow on me by the end. I enjoy fantasy as a general rule but the third-person narration in Homeland was annoyingly pedantic at times. We get it, Drow are evil, Lolth is terrible - I don't like my narrator so emotionally involved in the plot - and why can't evil be a little more nuanced? The first half of the book moved a bit slowly as all the world building was established but the plot picked up eventually, so I'd give Homeland a decent three out of five.
