Summary:
Cass has been running from her past for a very long time. Yet she's finally found a place to call home – where nobody knows her real name – or what she's accused of doing. So she made a new life on a remote little island in Thailand, and things seemed good - for a while.
Then, the bodies began appearing. Tragic accidents, or so they appeared. But somebody on this island knows Cass' truth, and they're here to make her pay. The question is – how far are they willing to go?
Review:
The Resort is the perfect read if you're looking for a darker and twisted thriller. This book will (probably) keep you guessing right until the end. And that ending, whew! Let's say that it took this reader by surprise.
There's no denying that The Resort is a twisted mystery/thriller. Cass' story doesn't come to light until nearly the end – but there are hints along the way. Those hints are enough to keep us guessing.
There are two perspectives in The Resort. One is Cass, and the other is introduced early in the narrative, but she got skipped over in the summary for some reason. (So I followed suit). Brooke's narrative is interesting in that it's hard to know her goal or motive until it all blows up.
Overall, I'd say that this is a solid thriller. It's perhaps not my favorite, but it did do a great job of leaving me guessing. I was okay with the ending until the epilogue. That final tiny twist felt too mustache-twirly for my liking.
