I love the story in this one, focused on wendigos. The story is very Poet-focused, as she is the one that must solve the mystery of what’s happening in the area. I love how strong and dedicated she is. But Kade… that’s a different story. He really is a whiner, which seems at odds with the rest of his character’s personality. He’s also incredibly overbearing, to the point of cringey. His absolute NEED to protect Poet from anything and everything is rather over the top. It often comes across as chauvinist, that he can’t even entertain the thought that she might be capable of life without his hovering… and smothering. Either that or he just wants to control him. I feel like the overall story of the series has gotten to the point that he should be able to trust Poet and know her well enough to understant what she is and isn’t capable of. Nonetheless, I enjoy this series!
