Omen of Ice by Jus Accardo

Omen of Ice

by Jus Accardo

When a spell goes wrong, linking the life force of 18-year-old druid Keltania to the Fae royal she's been tasked to protect, the two must embark on a dangerous trek through a violent wilderness.

Betrayal, stolen magic, and lies taint their journey as they work to break the magic linking them together before it consumes them both.

Book Summary:

Keltania Tunne has spent her whole life training for this moment. She is finally becoming a bodyguard for the Winter Fae. Only, things aren't quiet going as planned. She was told that it was an honor to earn a guard such as her.

Yet her charge wants nothing to do with her. More so, there's reason to suspect that he doesn't need her help staying alive, as he has his own set of powers. Not to mention secrets. It's the secrets that put everyone in danger.

My Review:

I am not ashamed to admit that I was really (really) excited for Omen of Ice. First, every version of the cover I've seen has been stunning. Second, I love books about fae, especially if they promise a romantic subplot.

Unfortunately, I was pretty disappointed with what I got here. First, they spent so much time priming us to feel like Keltania Tunne is a badass and highly trained fighter. Yet she doesn't act all that competent? It's frustrating, to say the least. Second, the romantic subplot is sorely lacking. I just couldn't get into it, let alone root for it. Mostly I just wanted to have it over and done with, as there were no sparks flying.

Honestly, I just struggled to get through this one. I almost DNF'd it, but forced myself to finish it out of principle (I know, I know, life is too short and there are too many books in the world). At least the cover is pretty?
