Summary:
Sometimes, there are heroes who have the power to change the world. Sometimes, that power shouldn't be used. Take this recent adventure, which was all caused by Wiccan trying to undo a loss from a few years ago.
Only for this sweet thought to be turned on its head. Now the Young Avengers are scrambling, and they're fighting the most unlikely of foes – their parents? Sort of?
Review:
Okay, okay, I've been meaning to read Young Avengers for WAY too long. I'm finally fixing that mistake by diving into Young Avengers Vol. 1. Thus far; I can already tell that the series is worth the hype (and the accidentally long wait).
The characters alone make this a fun adventure. We have Wiccan and Hulkling (love them), Kate Bishop and Marvel Boy, Ms. America, and finally, Kid Loki. It may not be a combination readers expected, but man, does it lead to some fun-fueled chaos! Granted, with Kieron Gillen at the helm, I expected nothing less. I love his writing. Combine that with Jamie McKelvie's illustrations, and you've got the perfect storm, comically speaking.
It felt like two plots were running through this volume. The first is the parent-focused chaos resulting from Wiccan's spell. The second is whatever Kid-Loki is actually up to. I'm looking forward to seeing how the latter plays out.
Long story short – I'm happy to finally be reading Young Avengers, and I can't wait to dive into the second volume.
