Summary:

Captain Marvel has faced many enemies over the years. Some of those enemies have left their marks on her. One such enemy is the Brood. They came the closest to breaking her, and now they are making another run at it.

Moreover, Binary, Spider-Woman, and some X-Men have become wrapped up in this escapade. Carol will have to go through some of her worst memories to come out on top with all her friends alive.

Review:

Whew. I won't lie: Captain Marvel Vol. 10 is an intense read. In truth, the entire Revenge of the Brood arc has been one heavy-hitting moment to the next. Kelly Thompson has always been good about that – creating an emotional arc that ties back to Carol's past.

This arc is no exception, but it feels heavier. This is likely because this volume concludes the current run of Captain Marvel. I know I'm depressed about the news, too. This has been my favorite series, and it will be hard to let go.

The Revenge of the Brood has done a fantastic job commenting on the past. Rogue, Captain Marvel's, and now Hazmat's. It's so wonderfully done, especially as these moments give these characters more ownership over what happened.

As always, I adored the artwork in Captain Marvel Vol. 10. The cover is brilliant – immediate references come to mind. Even without that, it's an eye-catching cover. Hazmat's scenes were arguably some of the most visually stunning. I wonder if we'll ever get a chance to see her run a solo series. I would love that. Other scenes that stole the show include Carol's breakout moment, but I don't want to delve into that too much – I can't spoil that moment for you.

I love how Captain Marvel Vol. 10 brought all these character arcs full circle. Carol's, Binary's, even Hazmat and Rogue. It was a wonderful, if bittersweet, sendoff. This one is worth the read, especially if you've followed along thus far.
