Summary:

The world is split into two parts: the Inside and the Outside. There are living beings on both sides, though they were likely never built to interact with one another. As such, both sides are cautioned to avoid the others – lest they risk becoming cursed.

This is the world that Shiva was born into. She lives on the other side, with a demonic figure known as Teacher watching over her. Yet as much as Shiva loves Teacher, she desperately wants to return to her grandmother...

Review:

Huh. The Girl from the Other Side is one of those stories that will make you stop and think. It's visually stunning and has many hidden layers. So I can see why this series is so popular – and why it's getting turned into an anime (or has it already become one? I'll have to check).

There is something so hauntingly beautiful about The Girl from the Other Side. And I'm not just referring to the artwork (though there certainly is that). It has this...ephemeral feel to it, like it could simply fade away at any moment.

Capturing that into a narrative must be easier said than done, so let's give some credit where it's due! Well done, Nagabe. Likewise, the art is simply stunning. I read the Deluxe edition of The Girl from the Other Side (vol. 1), and wow, that cover!
