DIVINE INTERVENTION FOR SALE

Yato is a homeless god. He doesn’t even have a shrine, not to mention worshippers! So to achieve his ambitious goals, he’s set up a service to help those in need (for a small fee), hoping he’ll eventually raise enough money to build himself the lavish temple of his dreams. Of course, he can’t afford to be picky, so Yato accepts all kinds of jobs, from finding lost kittens to helping a student overcome bullies at school.

Summary:

Some gods come into existence knowing their purpose. Others...not so much. Yato is what one might call a stray god. He doesn't have a shrine, let alone any worshipers. He hopes that he can change that if he answers enough prayers (aka jobs).

His jobs are all over the place. Largely because his way of...advertising...is quite unique. A phone number on a bathroom stall. An overwritten sign on the street. You get the drift. So some days, he's saving girls from their bullies, and other days he's finding a missing cat. All in a day's work for this stray god.

Review:

It's interesting. The description of Noragami: Stray God Vol. 1 led me to expect a certain read. When I got there – it took a minute. The whole first chapter felt like it was from the perspective of a human girl. A unique way to introduce the series/characters, right?

That did make the transition a little rougher, though, once that girl's problem was solved. I almost wish she was a more significant part of the story as a whole (maybe she is? She might come back, for all I know).

Noragami: Stray God Vol. 1 is more complex than expected. There are at least three distinct storylines in this volume alone, and I feel like we've barely scratched the surface of what is to come. Only time will tell, I suppose.

Will I Read the Rest of the Series: Maybe
