Book Summary:

My Review:

I think I'm in love. Again. Every time I dive back into this world, I'm quickly reminded why the Kate Daniels series was (and will always be) one of my favorite urban fantasy series. It's so powerfully written, with rich and intense characters. Throw in dangerous enemies and an expansive world; there's plenty to love.

Magic Claims is perfection. Plain and simple. It proves that our characters are still their kick-ass selves, even ten years down the line. No quasi-retirement can keep them down – they're too determined (and enjoy fighting a bit too much).

In truth, this book brings back many elements and plot points from the main series, pulling them together in ways that I couldn't have predicted. At the same time, this transition feels so natural and effortless; I'm surprised we didn't see it coming.

The enemies were fascinating, the secondary characters a delight, and the world continued to grow. I adore the idea of several main points coming full circle and sincerely hope we'll get a chance to see how far it goes.

Bonus points: Magic Claims is split into two perspectives. Most of it belongs to Kate, but readers get to see through Curran's eyes every now and then. It's a delight to see how he assesses a situation, especially when Kate is involved.
