HONOUR YOUR ROOTS. BREAK THE RULES. UNCOVER THE TRUTH.

Perry Firekeeper-Birch has always known who she is — the laid-back twin, the troublemaker, the best fisher on Sugar Island. Whilst her overachieving sister works away at an internship, Perry’s holiday plans mostly involve doing absolutely nothing.

But her carefree summer is brought to an abrupt end when she meets ‘Warrior Girl’, a Native American ancestor whose stolen remains are being kept in the archives of a local university. Perry is determined to bring her home, with the help of a small group of friends and allies, including her twin sister and a charming new boy in town with unwavering morals. Old rivalries, sister secrets, and botched heists cannot—will not—stop her from uncovering the mystery before the ancestors and missing women are lost forever.

‘This superb YA thriller interweaves compelling action with a sense of the Native Americans’ long fight for their own history.’ Guardian

Book Summary:

Perry Firekeeper-Birch had been looking forward to her Summer break. She was going to spend it slacking off and fishing, to her heart's delight. But one moment ruined those plans, and now she's stuck working at her community's summer program. Worse, because she's the last one to sign up, she's not getting the first pick of anything.

The good news is that this summer program will open Perry's eyes. She will soon learn about the "Warrior Girl" and all her other ancestors whom the nearby museum is hoarding – despite laws indicating otherwise. This is the lesson that will change Perry's path in life.

My Review:

Holy cats! Angeline Boulley has got to be one of the best writers around. Her stories are so alive and fierce. I just loved every moment. Seriously, I was so depressed when I finished Warrior Girl Unearthed – and not because the ending was sad. I was depressed because there wasn't more for me to read!

Warrior Girl Unearthed is a fantastic read. It has exceptional characters, a powerful plot, intriguing subplots, and more. Let us not forget the important lessons woven into the narrative! Angeline Boulley does a delightful job of making these lessons approachable. This is good because we need to hear things in her words.

Honestly, I would have loved Warrior Girl Unearthed even without those lessons. The story is solid, and I legit cannot wait to see what Boulley comes up with next. I know it's going to be another masterpiece.
