Book Summary:
Amina al-Sirafi has had a long and interesting career. It's earned her many names and titles. Most of which she is fond of, some proud of. Unfortunately, that sort of fame makes it difficult to peacefully find retirement.
Enter her current situation. Amina has been tasked with finding a kidnapped daughter. Even without the blackmail, Amina would have done her best to bring this girl home. However, many dangers are lying between Amina and her charge.
My Review:
Let me just start this review by saying, thank goodness The Adventures of Amina al-Sirafi is the first in a series! I don't know what I would do if I had to say goodbye to this world right now. Probably cry?
I have loved S.A. Chakraborty's writing from the moment I found The City of Brass, and let me tell you – this latest series does not disappoint! The two are drastically different, and I honestly love that.
The Adventures of Amina al-Sirafi merges many elements into one, including pirates and lore, forbidden treasures, debt, and family. It's an emotional and fantastical read, and I couldn't get enough of it. It was one of those books I tried to savor, but by the end, I couldn't put it down.
