Another one done in the six book series by Lauren Blakely. While her book index says the stories are standalone, the characters do overlap, picking up from an introduction point in a previous novel. For Well Hung, we pick up the story in two places: 1) when Natalie (Charlotte’s sister) is introduced to Nick (Wyatt’s fraternal twin brother) and 2) after the first epilogue in Mister O.
Wyatt is what most women would consider a “unicorn”. He’s charming, sweet, loyal, trustworthy, smart, funny, loves to cook, and (as most men in this series), blessed more than others in a certain area. While all appears to be perfect with our dear Wyatt Hammer, the reader gets a peek inside of his head – beyond the humor and animal facts, down to the insecurities that exist based on past blow ups in previous relationships. No matter what he did, how much precaution he took, it never seemed to work out. Going all in, he was burned by the one he saw forever with. Playing it safe and calling it so no one would get hurt when he didn’t see a future, he was still torn down and had to rebuild. So when Wyatt meets Natalie, all walls are up and all systems are on high alert.
Natalie is smart, ambitious, and can lay a man on his back before he can blink an eye (not like that – she is a black belt in Karate!) She’s desperate to find a job that works around her dojo schedule and puts her organization skills to the test. After approaching Wyatt at her sister’s wedding, she convinces him to hire her and over six months, helps him bring his business back from the brink.
Fast forwarding to the present, Wyatt has developed more than just a professional admiration for Natalie BUT some lines shouldn’t be crossed. Keeping his desires tucked down, WAY down, he agrees to a client’s request to work with Natalie on a huge opportunity in Las Vegas. Everything is going to plan until the project falls through, leaving dreams crushed and hopes dashed. So what do Wyatt and Natalie do when they’re down in Vegas? Drown their sorrows of course! Get ready to find out what happens when two people mix alcohol with suppressed desires in a city built on making their wildest dreams come true.
Just like the two before it, this story is insanely funny and mind-blowing, eye melting hot! The explosive passion between Natalie and Wyatt nearly jumps off the page. The trail they leave in Vegas is worth grabbing a pen and paper and writing down a few ideas (how they didn’t get arrested is beyond me! Gotta love fiction!) What I liked about this book is that Lauren went a little deeper with Wyatt than I have seen her do in her previous books. She allowed the reader to set up residence in Wyatt’s head, watching the battle between his head, his heart, his insecurities, and his desires duke it out. We witnessed when he was smart enough to know his shortcomings and ask for help, when to trust his gut, and when to make it right in those instances where he ignored it and guarded himself against past pain and hurt.
If you enjoy the steamy scenes of a Tessa Bailey novel or the main character growth in a Tara Sivec book, you will definitely enjoy Well Hung and the previous books in this series. Just be warned, if you read these out of order, the outcome of Big Rock and Mister O will be spoiled.
