The Wall of Winnipeg and Me by Mariana Zapata

The Wall of Winnipeg and Me

by Mariana Zapata

Vanessa Mazur knows she's doing the right thing. She shouldn't feel bad for quitting. Being an assistant/housekeeper/fairy godmother to the top defensive end in the National Football Organization was always supposed to be temporary. She has plans and none of them include washing extra-large underwear longer than necessary.

But when Aiden Graves shows up at her door wanting her to come back, she's beyond shocked.

For two years, the man known as The Wall of Winnipeg couldn't find it in him to tell her good morning or congratulate her on her birthday. Now? He's asking for the unthinkable.

What do you say to the man who is used to getting everything he wants?

After the beginning of this book I was fully prepared to not enjoy this story since I could not get on board with Aiden. Then Mariana Zapata gave me a whole book with him groverling and making it up, and Vanessa standing firm and not compromising and ... damn!

I love both of them and love how vulnerable he is (and how unable to do anything in his life without her). I love that she does not give in when she sees how incompetent he is at his own life and by doing that, gives him a chance to actually grow. I love that he is such a gentle giant with her.

I only wish that we would have heard more from his perspective so it would be cleared at what point he fell for her, and if his proposition of marriage was purely out of convenience or if he saw that as the only way to keep her in his life. there seem to be so many small signs that he cared for her way before the end in a big matter, but it's never spelled out (like for example him telling her later on how long he has been in love with her). Other than that, a new favorite and definitely a reason why I'm going to read all of Mariana Zapata's books.
