Silver Shadows by Richelle Mead

Silver Shadows (Bloodlines, #5)

by Richelle Mead

Sydney Sage is an Alchemist, one of a group of humans who dabble in magic and serve to bridge the worlds of humans and vampires. They protect vampire secrets—and human lives.

In The Fiery Heart, Sydney risked everything to follow her gut, walking a dangerous line to keep her feelings hidden from the Alchemists.

Now in the aftermath of an event that ripped their world apart, Sydney and Adrian struggle to pick up the pieces and find their way back to each other. But first, they have to survive.

For Sydney, trapped and surrounded by adversaries, life becomes a daily struggle to hold on to her identity and the memories of those she loves. Meanwhile, Adrian clings to hope in the face of those who tell him Sydney is a lost cause, but the battle proves daunting as old demons and new temptations begin to seize hold of him. . . .

Their worst fears now a chilling reality, Sydney and Adrian face their darkest hour in this heart-pounding fifth installment in the New York Times bestselling Bloodlines series, where all bets are off.

Initial Thoughts

I’m nervous. I don’t want this series to end and I especially don’t want the ending to suck. It’s going so good right now that I’m worried that the author will mess up. Fingers crossed!

My New BFF

It’s not a new bff, it’s the same one since I started this series. Sydney really does surprise me. She’s not a fighter but she’s fighting for her life in this book. There’s so much going on with her and it makes me love her even more. Not only is she trying to escape, but she’s trying to get the others to escape too. Most of them are brainwashed so it’s kind of hard to do. I was nervous that someone was going to stab her in the back the whole time! I’m glad she was smart enough to figure all this stuff out though. The next book is going to be crazy!

My Crush

I’m glad we still got to see Adrian in this book. I was worried that the author would focus on Sydney more but we got to see pieces of how Adrian was handling her disappearance. I was actually really impressed with his break out strategy. I figured he’s be more of a backup player but he was really important during this whole book. His character just keeps getting better and more complex!

Writing Style

I especially love the characters in this book. We meet tons of new people and some of our old friends come back. One thing I’d like to see is more of queen Lissa and the whole court because I feel like they should be involved with this whole scenario. aybe next book!

Closing Thoughts

I’m in love with this series and I can’t say that enough. I can’t find anything wrong with it. As soon as I opened this book I couldn’t put it down! I get sucked into the world and I feel like I’m right alongside the characters. I’d recommend this book to anyone who loves action and romance with a little bit of supernatural added in. I can’t wait to see which direction this series goes in.
