I wanted very much to read this and my library made me wait which was not fun. And then I got to the end and I'm not sure I can remember much of the beginning. Koenig was a pleasant surprise. Cole was as excellent as I wanted him to be. The scene with Beck. I remember that even if it wasn't what I expected it to be. Cole said he had reasons for needed to talk to Beck but they seemed like something in turning him to a wolf more than the logistics of moving the pack. Maybe I read too much into it. Sam wanted answers but the only one he got that Beck drove the attack on him I felt we already knew. But reading that scene and everyone interacting was interesting. I liked the way it amplified the sense of Sam and Cole as brothers. Their relationship and interaction is one aspect of the book I liked. Cole and Sam are totally precursors to Ronan and Gansey. I maybe like the wolves better, but only a little. Like a lot of books it ended quickly, the major threat resolved without much else to say even though before the climax it felt like there were so many unresolved things. But then after it, there weren't.
In the end, I think I really liked the writing perhaps a bit more than the story. It's different and it's very Maggie Stiefvater and it's good.
