How does this book have such a high average rating? Who the hell is reviewing these things? This wasn't even good in a "this is such a guilty pleasure" sort of way. The action was totally contrived; it wasn't exciting at all; compared to the show, the characters just fall so flat. It's ridiculous. Sara Shepard is obviously running out of exciting plot twists, judging by the way this series is going, as well as the latest Pretty Little Liars offering.
I cringed the entire way through this book. The characters are caricatures, the name-dropping of "obscure" bands such as Arcade Fire made me want to vomit, and the plot is becoming more and more convoluted and less and less exciting. Even at her best Sara Shepard writes mediocre books; this is her far from her best.
