Starting just a few weeks after Charles Fort was rescued following his adventure into the tunnels of the future Grand Central Station on the trail of the elusive Molemen.

Once again Geoff & Michelle Genge have caused me to put aside an entire evening and early morning to devour the adventures of Fort and his associate Leroy Ripley.

What, on the surface, seems like a dull tale of fixing up a steampunk airship for Fort’s much anticipated trip to Egypt following rumours of a ‘living’ mummy, is not dull in the slightest.

The masterful way the authors blend the current airship project with the telling of Fort’s previous investigation of an ‘Alien landing’ in Aurora, Texas keeps you engrossed throughout.

With a small but rich cast of characters that reveal their personalities and motivations as we get deeper into the series, this was a joy to read. Throw in the usual pro and epilogues with the journalist researching Fort in the present day and you’ve got yourself an excellent well plotted story that drops in its secrets at exactly the right times

What more could we need to heighten the expectation for book 3? A cliffhanger you say, well that’s exactly what we get – and it’s a doozy (no spoilers from me – you’ll have to read the book)
