Sweeter Temptation (Kimani Hotties, #45)

by Phyllis Bourne

This guy—she just knows as Kyle—is the stuff romantic fantasies are made of. Sweet secretary Nia would never entertain the idea of a one-night stand. But after two days housebound with the dark-eyed Adonis, nature begins to take its course. Of all the farmhouses to get stuck at! Kyle Ellison cannot believe he has just had the lovemaking of a lifetime with the woman whose life he has come to ruin. He had no idea that Nia is trying to save the small town's candy factory —the factory he has come to shut down. The hard-playing corporate executive cannot surrender to sentimentality. But the lingering taste of Nia’s sweet kisses have made him hungry for more…

Proceed With Caution:

This book contains mentions of parental deaths.

The Basics:

Sweeter Temptation is the story of Kyle, who is Adam's brother from Taste For Temptation, and Nia, who is trying to save the peppermint bark factory where her grandmother worked. Kyle's latest assignment is to shut down said factory which his father had purchased immediately before his death without telling anyone.

My Thoughts:

I really enjoyed Sweeter Temptation because it starts off with my second favorite trope: stranded together! Kyle has arrived in Candy, Ohio to meet with the factory president, but gets caught in a blizzard. Thankfully, Nia was on her way home and picks him up. She has no choice but to take him home with her, where the two are snowed in for a few days. Don't worry, they keep each other warm and entertained! Of course, she has no idea that he's the man who's about to shut down her beloved factory.

It was a little annoying to have another hidden identity plot, but I do think Sweeter Temptation did it better than Taste for Temptation since it comes up earlier. Nia can't seem to reconcile the sexy man she spent three days in bed with with this heartless businessman. However, Kyle really is the man she knows him to be. He comes off as a heartless playboy who's just looking out for himself, but he really is a savvy business man with a heart. It just took the right woman to bring it out of him.

Sweeter Temptation also has a slight mystery element to it as Nia is trying to find some file that her grandmother left with plans for the factory, as well as her famous toffee recipe. I guessed where it was early on, but it was still a fun reveal when they eventually find it at the end. Happy endings all around!
