After absolutely loving the first book, Rhythm, I was eager to get to Strings. While good, it definitely doesn't have that extra something that made the previous book so special. Jordan and Etienne are another plus sized power couple though, which is always nice to see! And Etienne is short!
What kept me from loving Strings was the setup and the conflict. Neither were really fleshed out. Jordan and Etienne meet at Finn's wedding, where Jordan has been following Finn around with love-starved eyes. After that, there's no more. Apparently it was wedding hormones, but it was made out to be a bigger deal than that until it wasn't anymore. Then the conflict has Jordan jumping to some wild conclusions just to force them apart. I can totally understand her being upset at the situation, but her line of reasoning felt forced.
However, the middle portion of Strings was wonderful. I loved seeing Jordan and Etienne come together, and their sex scenes are mildly kinky.
