Jaguar Pride by Terry Spear

Jaguar Pride (Heart of the Jaguar, #4)

by Terry Spear

An impossible mission...A lifetime of possibilities

JAG Special Forces agents Huntley Anderson and Melissa Overton are hot on the trail of poachers when they're suddenly saddled with two jaguar shifter cubs. They have to locate the parents, pronto-but who's going to babysit in the meantime?

Huntley is a rough, tough jaguar shifter and an all-business agent, but he's not going to let two abandoned youngsters come to any harm on his watch. Seeing her super-manly partner try to get the playful cubs under control stirs up some unexpected desires in Melissa, and she begins to feel like Huntley's not the only one who's in over his head.

Jaguar Pride by Terry Spear is the fourth book to her Heart of Jaguar series. I’ve meant to read this book for a while now. I made time to finally read it, especially since it’s been my TBR since the mid-2010s. I’m slowly but surely working through my massive TBR.

Storyline/My Thoughts: Terry Spear has always been a favorite PNR author of mine. She’s the reason why I love shifter romances. In this book, she introduces readers to a JAG Special Forces operative team on a mission to protect big cats from getting caught by poachers. Unfortunately, they will end up taking on not only poachers but babies of jaguar shifters who have been captured by the poachers they have been hunting.

Melissa Overton and Huntley Anderson have separate lives outside of the JAG Special Forces, but they work well as partners on their missions. They are going to take their duties seriously when they have to care for jaguar shifter babies. These two are adorable together. I liked their connection with each other during work, and I was bummed when they were not a couple at first. Although, fate has them working together a lot and sooner or later more than co-workers. Melissa is a kick-butt heroine, and Huntley is a kick-butt hero. They mashed well with each other and handled anything thrown at them.

Terry Spear gave me what I needed to get me out of a reading funk. Although there is a slight hint of instant attraction with the characters, it didn’t take away from the storyline. I love jaguar shifter romances, and this is the perfect story. It has adventure, suspense, and romance. It’s set in Costa Rica most of the time, which is another plus to the story. I love reading books in different settings.

Overall, this book gets four stars from me. I’ll have to make more time to catch up on other books Terry Spear has written now. I’ve missed her shifter romance books.

Standalone or Part of Series: It’s part of the Heart of Jaguar series, but each can read as a standalone.

Trope: Workplace Romance; Instant Attraction

HEA: Yes.

Work I recommend this book? Yes. If you are a Paranormal Romance reader. I love how Terry Spear writes shifter romances, which happens to be one of my favorite paranormal creatures. I can’t get enough of them.
