I like these books because theyre light, easy, mildly entertaining reads. I forgot how the internal monologue is sometimes so rudimentary that the heroine sounds younger than she is. And repetitive. I’m 8% of the way in and I've been told how many times she's always had Lily in her mind? Like at least a dozen. Also, the hard part in staying true to the fairy tale and invisible servants is that the beginning is so much Sophia and her internal monologue and that's boring.
And now I'm 12% in and its repeating everything from the second chapter about Marin and the last book. If this book is all Sophia all the time I’m going to quit.
I was kind of hoping after the last book with its mysterious curse on Palinir, that this would be a twist on Beauty and the Beast. A bit different and a bit interesting for it. But its a straight up retelling with no twists or surprises. It's not badly done and it's not unamusing but it's also not anything new or particularly interesting.
