Barbarian's Choice by Ruby Dixon

Barbarian's Choice (Ice Planet Barbarians, #11)

by Ruby Dixon

I might be the only unmated female in my tribe, but it doesn’t mean I’ve given my heart. I’m waiting. I want resonance, and I won’t settle for anything less.

But when an alien ship lands and a handsome stranger steps out, I know he’s the one. His name’s Mardok and he’s fascinatingly different – and distractingly appealing. But Mardok can’t stay on the ice planet, and he says he can take me with him.

Now, I must make a choice. Do I stay and lose my mate forever? Or do I follow him to the stars and leave behind everything I know?

The Basics:

While Barbarian's Choice is the eleventh book of the series, there is a pretty large time jump which makes this feel like the start of something new. This time we're getting Farli's story, as she reaches adulthood and finally resonates.

My Thoughts:

I know I've said it before, but this time I really mean. Barbarian's Choice is my favorite of the series (so far). Clearly, it's the first 5-star rating of the series. Farli was the only unmated female in the tribe, and that's just because she was a child until now. Well, Farli is grown and excited about all that life has to offer, but she's not interested in any of the men at home. While out hunting, she spots a ship! And out steps a gorgeous blue man who set her khui on fire.

Barbarian's Choice was just so freaking cute. I adore Farli. She's young and eager and excited! She shows no fear when Mardok's ship lands on her planet. She's not even discouraged that although they're the same species, they don't speak the same language (although we already know there's a quick fix for that). She is just so happy to have found her mate and is amazed by all of the new sights around her. I couldn't help but smile.

Of course, it wasn't all sunshine and rainbows for Farli and Mardok. He and his crew aren't stranded. They just had to land to repair the ship and were going to be on their way. But Mardok can't leave Farli! And Farli can't leave her tribe! What are they going to do?! Even though it's fairly obviously what's going to happen, I enjoyed watching them come to that decision.

I just loved Barbarian's Choice. Farli and Mardok are adorable. I loved learning more about this planet and the larger universe. And OMG that ending! Bek, what is wrong with you?! I had to know what was going to come next!
