The blurb for the book hooked me in, but I found myself feeling like I just walked into the middle of a series (even if this is listed as the first book).

Ben is an orphan who was adopted into the world of the paranormal.  While he might be friendly and love women, he finds himself looking at his best friend Tenzin differently after he's used by a woman trying to steal priceless art.

I think I would have loved this story more if I had known I needed to read the novellas that occur before this book.  I felt like I walked into the middle of the story and missed the charactersetupss and what they mean to each other.  We're supposed to see Ben and Tenzin as a possible couple in the future, but I didn't get that feeling from the interaction between the two of them (especially when Ben spent the majority of the book with someone else).

I did like the characters and maybe I could see Ben and Tenzin together in the future, but I felt like I was being pushed towards a relationship that didn't seem all that feasible.
