For all it was an introductory novella, there wasn't much introducing. I felt like the author started halfway through the story. Normally, this works, draws the reader in - but the backstory was never really explained and it was like missing half the story. I didn't really like Lynn. She was kind of a bitch. Unnecessarily a bitch. Snark is cool. But she assumes everyone she meets hates her and is going to bully her and I don't really get why. This only happens when she provokes them. And she never really apologizes. Bobby was alright. Seemed nice enough. This sounds like a really interesting world and a fairly original concept, but it needs to be fleshed out and conveyed to the reader. This was a very simplistic novella - quick read, okay plot - great world-building. Works perfectly if you suspend all questions and just let it go. There was a mystery but you never find out who or what or where or why it all happens - just that it does. Apparently that's addressed in the rest of the series.
