Avalanche is the first Hebert book I have read since the #Hashtag series ended. I loved Romeo and Rimmel so much I was afraid to move on. But, I finally got over my fear and dove into Avalanche. I am NOT disappointed.

Bellamy witnesses a murder and ends up in witness protection. This works for 2 years, but her cover is blown and she is on the run. She runs to a place she loved as a teen-BearPaw Resort. She is hoping HE isn't there, but of course he is. He is Liam, her first love and the guy who broke her heart at 16.

So, Avalanche gives us a parallel story here. First, you have the danger Bellamy is running from. The mob is gunning for her because she put one of their most important guys in the slammer. Secondly, you have a second chance story of sorts. Bellamy and Liam met and spent a week together as teenagers and fell hard for one another. However, a miscommunication leads to heartbreak. Now, 8 years later, they are both very different people but still very much in love. I really liked these two as a couple. Liam is cocky and charming; Bellamy is sweet and tough. I thought Bellamy's warring emotions were believable-she is terrified for herself, she is worried she is bringing danger to those around her, and she isn't sure what she should do any more. I mean, witness protection didn't work! Weave all that with rekindling a romance with Liam and you have one seriously confused young woman.

Avalanche brings enough danger to keep you flipping pages and enough swoon worthy times with Liam and Bellamy to keep you invested in the characters. I might not love Bellamy and Liam as much as Romeo and Rimmel, but I loved them! I can't wait to dive into this series further and see where Hebert takes the BearPaw crew!

  •   POV: dual 1st

  •   Tears: no

  •   Trope: on the run, second chance

  •   Triggers: none

  •   Series/Standalone: series

  •   Cliffhanger: kind of...one of the killers is not found so the plot is left open for future danger

  •   HEA: HFN for Bellamy and Liam

Cole by Tijan, Until June by Aurora Rose Reynolds, Retreat by Jay Crownover...then you will probably like Avalanche!
