The Boss’s Fake Fiancee is a short and sweet romance between Melissa and her boss, Garth. Melissa goes to work for her ex’s competitor, which he is not happy about, but she’s not happy that he was banging her best friend behind her back. She attempts to exaggerate how great Gareth is and how happy she is to work for him, but instead comes out sounding like they’re dating. Somehow this turns into an engagement on the front cover of a tabloid! Garth’s grandmother sees it and couldn’t be happier, so instead of setting the record straight, he asks Melissa to play along for a few weeks. I’m sure you all know by now that I love me a good fake relationship turned real!

I really enjoyed The Boss’s Fake Fiancee. I liked how Melissa came clean right away instead of hiding the fact that she inadvertently started the gossip. She and Garth are pretty darn adorable together when he’s not being a grump. He does have his reasons for his mood swings though. He has Asperger’s syndrome. This could have been handled better though. I was not a fan of him saying he’s “half a man” and “not normal.” There are other ways to make a tortured hero who thinks he can’t have love. But he and Melissa work things out in true romance novel fashion and get their happily ever after!
