I'm not a historical romance reader but this first attempt has swept me away. This story starts with suspense, drew me in and found that it's very swoony/romantic. The kisses had me swaying and even though this book is very sensual (which I'm a bit prudish) was delivered so well that it didn't make me uncomfortable at all, I thought it was so beautiful and romantic.
Mairin is quite the heroine, gutsy and not one to take orders well (for the era) and Ewan the totally hot alpha male with his character and patience for Mairin, a fair lord, had me falling in love.
I listened to this (audiobook) and the narrator was excellent.
This story had it's funny moments, suspense, mystery, drama, romance mainly, I highly recommend it.
I'm already eager to listen to the next one. It's a trilogy. Highly recommend this one if you are a true romantic. ;)
