Pieces of Us was a good story, and I have a soft spot for second chances in my heart. However, both Mack and Izzy had this thing where instead of simply saying 'him' or 'her' they said (or thought) that man, this man, the man, that girl, this girl, the girl... and each time, I would get so distracted from the story and the plot. And this happened at least once on each page... This meant that I had difficulty connecting with Izzy and her kids, and with Mack and his friends - so I was not emotionally involved in what was going on with them.
