I read these first individually when I was in primary school (that’s elementary school for the American/Canadians) - Emily Rodda is an Australian author. They were good then, and still now as a 30 year old the books kept my attention with the puzzles to be solved and the well-written plot. Probably not books for kids who frighten easily as some of the ‘Guardians’ are a bit icky and may scare very little ones but there’s nothing too scary really.
